MyTown Cabs ("Application", "we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of our users ("you", "your"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use the MyTown Cabs mobile application.
1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide
- Phone number: Required for OTP-based account registration and login via Firebase Authentication.
- Display name: Provided during profile setup to identify you within the Application.
- Profile information: Your user role (Rider or Driver) and account status.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Location data: Real-time GPS coordinates collected when you use the Application for ride booking, route calculation, fare estimation, and driver assignment. Location access is mandatory for the ride-booking features to function.
- Device information: Device type, operating system, and app version for service optimization and troubleshooting.
- FCM tokens: Firebase Cloud Messaging tokens for delivering push notifications about ride updates and service announcements.
1.3 Ride Information
- Pickup and drop-off locations (place names and coordinates)
- Vehicle type selected (Mini, Sedan, SUV)
- Estimated and actual fare amounts
- Ride status and timestamps
- Ride verification OTP (4-digit code)
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
- Authentication: To verify your identity via phone OTP using Firebase Authentication.
- Ride booking: To process ride requests, calculate routes and fare estimates, and assign drivers.
- Communication: To share ride details (including your name, phone number, pickup/drop locations, vehicle type, and estimated fare) with drivers or operators through platforms such as WhatsApp for ride coordination.
- Notifications: To send push notifications about ride status updates, confirmations, and service announcements via Firebase Cloud Messaging.
- Safety: To generate ride verification OTPs and enable trip tracking for rider safety.
- Service improvement: To analyze usage patterns and improve the Application's functionality and user experience.
- Dispute resolution: To retain ride-related data for resolving disputes between riders and drivers.
3. Data Storage and Security
- Your personal data is stored securely in Google Firebase services (Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Firebase Cloud Messaging).
- Data is transmitted using encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS).
- We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
- Despite our best efforts, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.
4. Data Sharing
We may share your information in the following circumstances:
- With drivers: Your name, phone number, pickup/drop-off locations, vehicle type, and fare estimate are shared with assigned drivers and our dispatch team for ride coordination.
- Via WhatsApp: Ride booking details may be communicated through WhatsApp to drivers or operators for dispatch purposes.
- Service providers: We use Google Firebase for authentication, data storage, and messaging. Google's privacy practices govern their handling of data processed through Firebase services.
- Google Maps: Location data is processed through Google Maps APIs for route calculation, distance estimation, and map display.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, regulation, or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of MyTown Cabs, our users, or the public.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
5. Location Data
The Application requires access to your device's location services. By using the Application:
- You consent to the collection and use of your real-time location for ride booking and related services.
- Location permission is mandatory — the Application cannot function without it.
- Location data is used only while you are actively using the Application for ride-related purposes.
- Your pickup and drop-off coordinates are stored as part of your ride history.
6. Push Notifications
We use Firebase Cloud Messaging to send push notifications. You can manage notification preferences through your device settings. Disabling notifications may affect your ability to receive ride updates.
7. Data Retention
- Your account data is retained as long as your account is active.
- Ride history and transaction data are retained for service improvement and dispute resolution purposes.
- If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal data within a reasonable timeframe, subject to any legal retention requirements.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate personal data.
- Request deletion of your account and associated data.
- Opt out of promotional communications by contacting our support.

9. Children's Privacy
The Application is not intended for use by individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10. Third-Party Services

- Firebase Authentication — for phone OTP login
- Cloud Firestore — for data storage
- Firebase Cloud Messaging — for push notifications
- Google Maps Platform — for maps, routes, and geocoding
